"Time to put this architectural nightmare to the test. Did an internet forum user really build an elaborate death trap with nothing but gumption, his own two hands, and almost certainly the wrong tools? Was that drywall really load-bearing? Or is there Something Awful about this story that just doesn't add up?"

Dunno what lit that fire under my ass last night, I think it was talking to a friend about how important communication is in living peacefully.

Like- some of the worst things that ever happened to me happened as a result of people bearing resentments against me that were born of a lack of communication, things that were ultimately really minor, but which exploded into some really horrid behavior because those resentments festered without anyone doing the adult thing and just.. talking things out. So when I feel like there are places I feel those things happening again- not to me specifically, but others- it makes me… well, furious.

Nobody deserves to be subjected to what I was. Never.

don't even start arguing about the Web advertising stuff that Mozilla pulled recently, yes it sucks but it's way less bad than what Google is doing with Chrome. If you want to use a random fork of Firefox over it I don't care and that won't stop me from telling "regular people" to just use Firefox, non-computer touchers shouldn't daily drive a random fork of a web browser imo okbyeeee

You know why I’m the way I am? Because not a lot fucking matters to me.

Not in that tiresome, edgy nihilistic way, fuck that noise- what I mean is, I let most things just slide off my back, make a conscious effort to look at most things and go “there is not as much riding on this as social convention and my own anxieties try to lead me to believe,” and then I go at it without burdening myself with fearing for every potential outcome.

I post my art, no matter what it is, because it doesn’t matter to me how it’s received. I say what I’m thinking because it doesn’t matter to me what people might think. I embrace the things that bring me joy because it doesn’t matter if others try to keep me down, they only have the power I give them, and I give them nothing.

That’s the secret 34 years of love and loss have taught me- that very few things are of real consequence, so you’re free to live the life you see fit, to chase your happiness unburdened by doubt. Live for yourself and the people you love- nothing else matters.
